On April 11, 2024, the fifth edition of CDO—the only gathering in Italy for Chief Data Officers—took place at the NH Congress Center in Assago. The event was organized by IKN.

What Is CDO Day?

Our CTO, Florindo Palladino, delivered a presentation titled “Foundation Models: High Performance or Just Greater Resource Demands?” during which the following topics were discussed:
- integration of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLM) with existing business systems;
- use of KPIs and metrics to evaluate performance and return on investment;
- the importance of training and upskilling programs for staff.
Challenges and Limitations of LLMs
On the sidelines of the event, Florindo discussed the challenges and limitations associated with the implementation of Large Language Models (LLMs), highlighting the need for significant computational resources and careful data management to ensure security and privacy.
In conclusion, he addressed the operational challenges related to data fragmentation and the need for advanced, secure technological infrastructure, as well as, more generally, the strategies companies can adopt to ensure the scalability and reusability of these technologies in their business processes.
