On October 1, 2024, the Artificial Intelligence Application Talk was held—the annual event dedicated to AI applications, featuring use cases submitted by the partners and sponsors of the Artificial Intelligence Observatory at the Politecnico di Milano.

AI Application Talk is a one-day event dedicated to AI and its applications. The event explores projects based on machine learning and artificial intelligence models in depth: from the solutions implemented to the problems solved, the challenges overcome, and the benefits achieved.
With nearly 1,200 attendees, the exhibition and networking area provided an opportunity to meet with the leading presenting companies —including artea.com—to explore the use cases presented during the three panel sessions in greater depth . It was a day full of insights, examples, and concrete solutions for improving business efficiency through AI.
RAG: How AI Is Revolutionizing Interaction with Business Data
Our talk,“Beyond Documents: Conversing with Databases Using AI,” explored the concept of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). This technology combines information retrieval with the generation of natural-language responses, allowing users to interact directly with business data through executable SQL queries. The solution improves operational efficiency by providing immediate answers and dynamic visualizations without the need to navigate through complex documents.
During the presentation, we showcased several use cases for our RAG technology, includingsales analysis by agent—highlighting top performers—and monthly tracking of sales opportunities, with percentage changes. Another example involves generating a report on operating expenses broken down by department, with the ability to explore detailed data by month or expense category. These and other examples demonstrate how RAG technology provides immediate, visual access to business data.
